Commandment 5: She Moves her Body

Hey Hot Mommas!!

In honor of the next Commandment I thought I should put theory into practice and really get my juices flowing before writing about it! You got it! Number 5 is all about exercise and is truly relevant to any Healthy Lady including a Pre-Pregnancy Momma.
Benefits are basically everything!… and range from elevated & happy mood, improved circulation, weight control, strength, higher energy levels, better sex, improved sleep and regularity, if you know what I mean!
And these benefits can start to be seen even at the slightest increase of physical activity, like walking 10-20 a day. That's pretty amazing that all you have to do is start moving...make One Simple Change!

Commandment 5: She Moves her Body.
All the time we hear how good and necessarily it is to be active, I’m sure by now you get it.  The great thing is that there are only about a million ways to exercise…the secret is finding the one that works for you. That means the one that you enjoy, that’s doable, that you get results at, that suit your personality and so forth.  If you are extraverted than find things that you can do with other people like classes or be involved with your gym. For me, I am pretty introverted and I like exercising alone, which is why running is so perfect for me. It offers me alone time for emotion and stress release - plus I could just turn on my tunes and run for days. Finding what fits and consistency would be my two big tidbits of advice when creating a regular exercise practice; The more often that you do it, the easier it will be and your body will even start to crave it. Trust me, once you get into a routine, your body will not feel the same on the days you have off and you may even finding yourself giving up other less productive activities in order to make time to exercise.

There are many different ways that exercise changed by life when I decided that I was going to run a half marathon - oh another good tip: Set goals with deadlines to work toward! I had always exercised but it was generally pretty aimless. Because it made me feel good and I knew I should I did. It wasn't until I got in to a consistent routine that I really reaped the benefits of being physically fit - and I'm not talking about how I looked. Yes I loved the way I looked after training for the race.  I have always been skinny, but clothes fit better than ever and my confidence in my body was through the roof. The thing is, how you look isn't even the best part.

Exercise Makes You Happy. This is a huge reason for me as to why I exercise. Physical activity produces endorphins and the Happy Hormone Serotonin. When I was getting off of an antidepressant, exercise was so vital to this process...it was my antidepressant. It was a huge motivator in making my activity routine. Ensuring that I would get those endorphins and mood-regulating hormones after running gave me the confidence that I didn't need that pill, or the negative side effects! This regulation of hormone may even be responsible for less pain during that time of the month - another reason to be happy for!
Exercise Make Sex Better. I'm not even going to go into why this is but just accept it as true because it is. Maybe it is the confidence, the blood flow, the flexibility, the endorphins, or all of the above but I'm telling you sex is better...and easily more orgasmic.
Exercise Boosts Immunity. When coupled with proper nutrition, habitual physical activity even strengthens immune cells. Furthermore, it promotes a healthy digestive system from supporting gut bacteria to speeding waste through. This with helping to regulate hormone levels protects movers and shakers against many cancers.
Exercise Helps You Live Better Longer. Another big one for me, especially as a Pre-Pregnancy Momma. My dad died of cancer when I was 15 years old and living long, living well is extremely important for me to be around for the lives of my children. Regular Exercise, which could mean just 30 minutes every other day, improves the strength and function of your organs, including your muscles, bones, heart, lungs and brain. Better functioning organs means lower risk of many diseases and even growth of new brain cells.

A regular fitness practice can also allow us the amazing opportunity to practice the balance between Self-Love and Challenging ourselves…something that could come in handy some day when we must both gently love and challenge the kids. Whatever the exercise is – yoga, running, weight lifting – there is this unique back in forth between being gentle and unjudging of yourself, recognizing your limitations and on the other side pushing and not surrendering to pain or defeat so that we become better, faster, stronger.  It’s when you become skilled at this balance that you grow spiritually and build strength in character – which is really, really cool.

We are halfway through the 10 Commandments of the Pre-Pregnancy Momma and as you can tell she is all about taking care and healing herself so that she can take care of her future kiddos the best she can and allow them the cleanest, healthiest DNA, immune system and environment to grow and flourish in.
She loves them now by loving herself.

I love running and yoga most but can get into some sqqqqquats and lifting. What about you? How do you move??

with Love,
Mandy
